No Offence! Empty
PostSubject: No Offence!   No Offence! Icon_minitimeTue Jul 22, 2008 2:51 am

Although it is not in any way my intention to cause offence to anyone reading or contributing to this forum, I also wish to encourage a full and free debate on many subjects that may be considered taboo or offensive to various people. I appologise in advance for any offence caused by discussion of such subjects, but I truly believe that it is important to discuss such matters in order for the truth to be found.

If a topic causes you offense then please feel free to say why you find it offensive and convince others of your point of view, but at the same time do not resort to personal remarks or insults on this forum as any such behaviour will be dealt with severely (whether such behaviour is considered justified or not).

I have found that people tend to be offended most when their core beliefs or values are scrutinised or questioned. This is a fairly human reaction to defend against what one would consider to be wrong thinking. However, I believe that if you truly believe in your faith or position on such matters then questioning or scrutinising the subject can only strengthen that belief.

Just because others may have different ways of seeing things, or different beliefs to you does not mean that they are automatically wrong or bad people. There are two sides to every argument and everyone is entitled to voice their own views on any subject here. Please respect this right for others to voice views that you may not like or agree with, as much as they must respect your right to your views that they may not agree with or like. It is only by examining all sides of an argument that one may truly make an informed decision about what you choose to believe.
